Artists in the Park we a group of emerging artists that come together to paint of a Tuesday, share ideas and support each other in our creative journeys.
Members in the group have a wide variety of experiences from watercolours, acrylics, oils to mixed media and across styles from still-life, landscape, abstract, figurative, and portraiture.
Professional artists are invited to give art demonstrations and mentoring sessions on a bimonthly basis to the group to support the development of skills.
Each year in November the group run an art exhibition curated from the year’s work. It is held on the mezzanine gallery level. An opening event is held where the public are invited to view artworks for sale over the three floor levels with refreshments on the main ground floor.
Artists bring their own art materials and work on their own projects and typically BYO lunch to have over shared vibrant conversations.
We meet in a light filled and inviting art space overlooking fields at:
Primrose Park Arts and Craft Centre Inc (PPACCI)
Matora Lane (off Young Street)
Cremorne NSW 2090
It is a North Sydney Council art facility.
The centre has 12 floor easels and 3 table easels. To best manage the floor space the group is divided into a morning and afternoon group from typically 9-5pm. The PPACCI centre is used by six different incorporated art and craft groups. A timetable and can be seen and more at:
In 2024 the group commenced running evening art classes which became very popular with a professional artist Anna-Carien Goosen teaching watercolours.
The classes run for 8 to 9 weeks from 6.30-9pm of a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday night. To record your interest in up-and-coming evening art classes please register your interest here.
Artists in the Park formed in 2016 when a group of painters led by Loretta Moy found space available at Primrose Park Art and Craft Centre Inc (PPACCI) with the very important easy parking. The close-knit group had been taught by Kerrie Lester for many years and were keen to stay together, paint informally and enjoy good conversations.
Easels and basic equipment were purchased with ten members paying forward their membership.
As a PPACCI requirement the group incorporated in 2020 and became Artists in the Park Inc. as a not-for-profit community association.
